3. Before you go out of state to pull (transfer) a homeless pet, we strongly encourage your organization to check the Colorado network to see what is available in Colorado. If there is nothing local, then go out of your county, and if nothing is available then go out of state.

Introduction

Recently, Colorado was ranked 10th in the nation for all animal-related issues.  Colorado is also one of the top states for high animal shelter save rates.  With a little effort, Colorado could be number one in the nation.

Colorado has PACFA (Pet Animal Control Facilities Act). PACFA requires that all licensed organizations report their numbers. This data provides a state, county, city, and facility view of Colorado's lifesaving. It also allows us to see exactly which Colorado organizations may need help to improve upon their lifesaving work and gives us access to more than 300 Colorado organizations. With this information, we can work to save every healthy and treatable Colorado homeless pet.

We aim to get all PACFA organizations working together to take care of Colorado community pets. With over 300 organizations in this network, we have experts in every possible competency needed to save every pet that is not irremediably suffering or a true candidate for euthanasia.

Need to transfer a pet because you cannot find an adopter?  You have 300 options.

Have a pet in need of medical attention? There has to be one organization in 300 that can help.

Behavior issues? There are trainers in some of these 300 Colorado organizations.
